Lesson #19 – Direct Mail Mojo!

Since more and more personal communication is handled electronically, most of the paper mail people receive is either “junk” or “bills.” All too often, no matter what you might say on the front of the envelope, it’ll never get opened. So – fewer businesses are using mail to deliver their marketing message.

Well, I don’t know about you, but I LOVE getting odd-shaped packages in the mail. I’ll set aside any #10 envelope just to see what’s inside a package. Makes me feel like a kid at Christmas:

“Oh look! A present. For me?”

And, if you want to catch my attention with regular flat mail – send me a postcard. You know, the kind you used to get from friends and family on vacation:

“Having a great time. Don’t forget to water the cat.”

I’ll look at a postcard before I look at anything else … other than that odd-shaped package. And you know what? Many of your clients and prospects will do the same.

Nowadays, when you only have a few seconds to capture someone’s attention, you’ve got to come up with something new and different.  Something remarkable. Your competition may be setting mail aside. That doesn’t mean you should as well. Watch this video and see what I mean.
